Acts 9:32-43: God Prepares Peter and the Church for His Kingdom's Expansion to the Gentiles

Jesus is preparing the way for His gospel to fill the earth with His glory by going to the ends of the earth. The Gentiles were viewed as unclean and some historic accounts show a division that was so deep Gentiles were said to have been created by God simply to keep the fires of hell burning. Prior to accomplishing His word in Acts 1:8 by going to the ends of the earth, Jesus brings Paul into a relationship with Him and sends Him through the seeds of suffering, but meanwhile (v32) has Peter travelling and visiting the church abroad. In his travels, Jesus begins preparing Peter to take the gospel to the Gentiles and to establish the Gentile church. This text takes us through two miraculous events meant to establish the authority of Christ in the ministry of Peter and to prepare Peter's heart for reaching across the Jew-Gentile divide he is known for struggling with when he travels to Cornelius's house.
